Verb Grammar Packet – activities for regular and irregular verb use

Description

This fantastic Verb Grammar Packet addresses multiple verb-related grammar goals including:
-regular verbs
-irregular past tense verbs
-subject/verb agreement
-sentence generation
-understanding and use of past, present, future, and present progressive tenses

This is the only resource you will need for multiple lessons to cover these topics!

The packet contains 6 distinct activities, plus variations that can be used with many of them:

1. Past, Present, or Future Activity Board: students sort Time Tiles (i.e., “two weeks ago…) into the correct tense category

2. Verb Sort Activity Board: students place the correct verb form in the correct category by tense

3. Sentence Builder Board: using a template, students combine the components (a time description, a subject, and a verb) into a grammatical sentence

4. Sentence Builder Writing Worksheets: students create their own sentences in each tense – they can create one from scratch or use any combination of the included tiles as prompts

5. Timeline: students place the time description tiles onto a timeline in chronological order
*this activity is available in both color and black and white versions

6. Game Boards: after all that hard work, it’s time to play a game! Students move around the board using a verb + subject or verb + time combination to make up sentences

Why is this packet special? This packet covers multiple different skills relating to verbs and their grammatical use. In addition to regular verbs, irregular past tense verbs are targeted. There are irregular past tense verbs that have no change in form (hit/hit), as well as those that do (fight/fought). Future tense and present progressive –ing are also targeted.
