Description
Do your students ever struggle to create their own novel sentences? You might see them rely on that same sentence structure every time they’re asked to generate a sentence. With this product, you can help your students build independence with sentence creation in both language and articulation activities.
With this set of visual aids providing ideas and structure for sentences, your students will be able to create novel sentences with support that you can scaffold to meet their needs and fade input.
This set contains sentence visual aids for:
- nouns
- verbs
- adjectives
Each of the above parts of speech has two versions of the sentence visual aids:
- a one-page sheet that presents ideas for sentence topics
(perfect for students who have difficulty generating ideas or keep using the same structure) - a two-page set presenting the same ideas, but with fill-in-the-blank sentence examples
(perfect for students who need more support with the grammar / syntax of the sentences and need a bit more help getting their sentences started)
Why I Created This Product:
I often have articulation students who are targeting their sound at the sentence level and just seem to have a hard time creating sentences with the stimulus word. Here are some of the things I see:
- difficulty initiating a sentence or generating an idea
- heavy reliance on one sentence structure
- difficulty changing a sentence to accommodate different versions/tenses of the word (i.e., they add an ending to the word to make it fit within the constraints of a sentence structure that comes easily to them).
I often found myself giving the same cues over and over to help them:
- “Use a sentence to tell me something about ___?”
- “Have you ever seen a ___? Great! Tell me about that in your sentence.”
And so, these visuals were born. I wanted to give students a more independent way to generate ideas and create sentences about varied topics and with varied structures.
