This specific product is a collaboration between Kiwi Speech and @transplaining. Please see below for details on this collaboration. Some stories in this product include the singular pronoun “they” in an effort to be more inclusive of a variety of gender pronouns. The singular pronoun ‘they’ is not directly taught in this product, however, it is used in context to refer to one child and one space creature throughout. *In one of the multiple meaning activities the word ‘they’ is used as a target and options for responses are provided, including referring to an unspecified person or to a person who uses they/them pronouns.

This product is a collaboration between Kiwi Speech and @transplaining, with proceeds supporting both companies as well as 34% of proceeds from sales going toward The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth. Our goal in creating this product was to provide a resource where gender-neutral pronouns were featured in a natural, contextual way. These stories feature one child and one space creature who are referred to without binary gender pronouns. Please note that the concept as a whole is not directly “taught” or explained in this product, but rather, simply “present” and in one case, defined.

While it is *possible to use this product without any direct discussion about pronouns and gender, anyone utilizing this product should be prepared to answer questions that may arise in a knowledgeable and inclusive way. @transplaining provides training for SLPs in this and related areas and is a recommended resource for those wanting to learn more.
