Description

First popularized by Carol Dweck in her book, Mindset, a growth mindset is the belief that we can change things about ourselves and improve skills with work and effort.

This 5-Lesson Unit 3 of the curriculum includes:

  • Feedback
  • Comparison
  • Positive Self-Talk
  • Goals and Plans
  • Gritty People

(Although these are numbered 11-15 in the unit, they can be used alone – without the purchase of Unit 1 or 2)

You can find the bundle here: Growth Mindset for Speech Unit 1-3 Bundle

-A poster with a quote specifically chosen to support the lesson.

• SLP GUIDE

-Contains a brief summary of the materials for the week

-Includes a “script” that can be used to teach the students about the week’s topic and familiarize yourself with the focus of the week.

• 2 STUDENT LESSON PAGES

-There are two versions of the lesson for students – one that is geared more toward younger students and one more for older students.

-They are designed to support the lesson taught/read by the SLP by having the students follow along and have a visual.

• ACTIVITY

-A short activity to be done in class/session with the support of the SLP or together as a group.

• HOMEWORK

-A short, interactive activity to be done at home with the family. Each homework assignment also contains a brief summary of the lesson so that parents can follow along and support a growth mindset at home

*You can use as many or as few parts of each section as works for you – depending on your time, goals, and the needs of your students. Each part is designed to be able to “stand alone.”
