Articulation Story Creator – A Group Speech and Language Writing Activity

Description

This is a fantastic activity for targeting so many speech and language skills! Originally designed with older students and carryover of sounds in mind, this is a great activity to use with those students who are using their sounds during structured activities, but often forget during reading or connected speech.

This is also a fantastic activity to target written and other language skills – with or without articulation.

Here is how the game works:
-The therapist/teacher prints Story Creator worksheets and selects sentence starters for each student in the group.
-Students use their sentence starter to begin a story by writing a sentence on the Story Creator worksheet.
-Students will Pass their story to the next person in the group. The next person will use their own sentence starter to add a new sentence to the story.
-Keep passing until everyone has had a chance to contribute to each story.
-At the end, you will have multiple new stories and the students will read their story out loud using all of their great speech sounds and reading skills!

Wondering why this is such a great language activity?
Each sound set includes the following sentence starters:
-15 noun phrases
Includes plurals, possessive pronouns, negation, conjunctions, and proper nouns
-15 verb phrases
Includes irregular past tense, regular past tense, present progressive –ing, 3rd person singular, present tense
-15 bonus/prepositional phrases
–EDITABLE blank squares so you can create your own sentence starters
